WCT #174: Reduce Your Weight Naturally

Today is not so much of a coaching tip as information about a project I have been working on for nearly 2 years.  Often, when I see clients from all walks of life and professions, some issues that come up time and time again, are self esteem and weight issues.  Sometimes they are linked, sometimes not. I began to see patterns with people who had dieted on and off for years and became very frustrated when most people just wanted a quick fix and not really deal with the underlying issue.  Being overweight is just a symptom of what is happening in someone’s life. It is the body’s cry for help, the body is telling us that something is seriously out of balance here, and it’s actually a gift if we decide to use it. So I decided that I wanted to really address the issue of Weight, Reducing it using Mind, Body and Spirit.

Why is it so difficult for people to reduce and maintain a healthy weight and enjoy their body image?  Yes, the media have a lot to do with this, but that’s only one aspect.  People are badly educated about foods, in fact, sometimes completely misinformed!  For instance, the old paradigm that the government passed down to us was that carbohydrates were good and we should eat most of our food from this group.  This is actually wrong and we know that now.  People also do not understand about good fats and bad fats.  We live in a culture of low fat, no fat and a fat blocking, fearful society.  The truth is we NEED fats to actually lose weight; however, we need the RIGHT FATS in the RIGHT RATIO.  Many people have no idea about this.

 The other aspect that often needs to be dealt with is the psychological one.  This is often the major one.  Many people are in conflict with what they want consciously and what their sub conscious is telling them.  Often there is a loop of wanting to be thinner and healthier and yet eating more when one is angry/upset etc… as a self punishment or comfort.  The reasons for this are many and varied.  They can range from trauma to something very small but relevant at a young age.  What I find, time and time again is, what is missing in lots of cases, is self acceptance and self love.  There is guilt or punishment underlying in many cases.  The extra fat is just a protection.  (Assuming there isn’t a medical reason for it).

 Then we have highly toxic thoughts and emotions running around in us which re-inforce the problem.  If we are thinking like someone who is overweight or always focused on some negative aspect of our body then we will get more of that.  Bodies are wise they listen and comply with our thoughts.  If you regularly beat yourself up for not losing weight or sticking to a diet, you are seriously hindering your quest for health and a reduced body weight.

 So the above are some reasons why people yo yo diet and feel unable to shift the unwanted fat and keep it of.  I have now devised a programme to address this very issue.  It has four components to it. If you have yo yo dieted for years and just put weight straight back then read on. If you know someone like this who would be genuinely interested in reducing their weight then I would be grateful if you forward this on to them.  I am going to do some talks to introduce this programme to address the above problems once and for all.  Ultimately I will be looking for no more than 10 people to go on the first programme.
